Raleigh Uke Jam

The very best way to practice the uke is by playing with others. The Raleigh Uke Jam is open to players of all levels – even if you’re just starting out in the ukulele community. Meetings take place on the first and third Thursday of every month from 7:00pm until 9:00pm in the classroom building at the Church of the Nativity, at 8849 Ray Road in North Raleigh.

Freddy Greene

This energetic Jazz/Funk musician/composer weaves the smooth and mellow sounds of classic Jazz with innovative funk.

F
reddy was born in Franklinton, NC in what had once been a “piccolo joint” (The Chicken Shack) owned by his uncles, Pete and Clarence Kearney.  Prior to Freddy’s birth, Father of the Blues and family friend, (the late) W.C. Handy visited and performed there. Greene was exposed to music at an early age as he recalls listening to the jukebox and occasionally peeking in to watch the patrons of the piccolo joint pop in their quarters and dance to their favorite tunes.
